On Wednesday we went to Bet She' an, It wasn't a proper hike but it was very hot so just as hard.
When we arrived it looked like an old golf course over grown. However there were ruins from the roman period all over the place. We then looked at a tell, which is a man made mountain where different civilizations have built on top of one another. We then climbed to the top. It was not a long thing but it was very steep and so it was tiring. At the top we talked about King Saul the first king of Israel. The story about the prophet who died, he brought his soul back and he was told that he was going to die, so he killed himself and his son. We then had another bit of a walk and we walked to the edge of the tell and over the edge we could see the most amazing thing ever!!!!!It was a whole Roman center of town. It was amazing, it had been dug up and we then went wandering around and looking at all the buildings. They were all in the position that they were found in and they WERE the originals! It was really cool,
There was one problem however, there were sooooooooooomany mosee's and they were so annoying. It was a very different hike and very good views, well worth wile!
Looking forward to seening Adrian tommorow
more updates soon.

Hi Eli,
Do you actually have any lessons?
When we (Dad and I) were near Beit Shean on Hachshara, all those Roman ruins hadn't been excavated properly yet. There was ahlf an amphitheatre and a few brocken columns. Bet Shean for us was the local bus station and rather good felafel. And a shop where you could buy Israeli sandels - the sort that were really cool then but that no one wants to wear these days.
Have fun with Adrian this afternoon/evening. I might try to speak to you through his phone - easier than getting you in your room.
Lots of love and Forcaccia
Rachel
Now it is fully excavated and it was really amazing
RAchel is correct. It was a bit of a dump then. The only other thing of note is that we used to visit Bet Shean to carry out the sort of Buddying/social support to the youth living there, that you offer in Afula!
But th9ose guys must be about 40 now!
Dad
I remember Beit Shean, or rather i remember the bus garage! The bus deposited us at this run down bus depot and we had about half an hour to get to Rachel's kibbutz before Shabbat. Unfortunately there were no taxis and I had visions of spending the Friday night and Saturday in a deserted garage. Luckily a taxi appeared at the eleventh hour and we made it to the kibbutz just in time.
We will be in Israel next week and hope to visit you. Do we have to go via Beit Shean bus station?!!
I do not know if you will see this commnt as it is a bit late and you are on to other topics. Never mind i'll tell you when I see
you.
Lots of love from us both
Grandma.
